As part of the long-standing project of restoration and revitalization of the čavjanski kalići, a beehives for solitary bees has been installed at the “Kalina” pond in Hrastenica. This way, we continue our ongoing efforts to preserve and enrich the natural and cultural heritage of our region, with a special emphasis on strengthening biodiversity.

Solitary bees are quiet but extremely important allies of nature. Unlike honeybees, they do not live in colonies and do not produce honey; instead, each female independently builds her own nest and takes care of her offspring. Despite their modest appearance, their role in pollination is remarkable – a single solitary bee can pollinate up to 1,000 flowers per day, significantly contributing to plant development and the health of the entire ecosystem.

By installing beehives for solitary bees, we create safe shelters for these valuable pollinators and actively contribute to preserving the natural balance. In this way, natural areas such as kalići ponds gain new value and become richer in life.
